Lil Tecca
Tyler-Justin Anthony Sharpe was born on
August 26, 2002 is an American artist and rapper. The success of
"Ransom," his 2019 single, has helped him become a major star. The
song was featured on his debut mixtape , We Love You Tecca (2019) that peaked
at number 4 on the US Billboard 200. The mixtape also featured singles Love Me
and Did It Again. His first studio album, Virgo World (2020) was released
number 10 on the Billboard 200 and included the Billboard Hot 100's
top-charting tracks "Dolly" as well as "When You Down". His
second mixtape "We Love You Tecca 2", was released in August 2021. It
featured "Repeat It" as well as "Lot of Me". Tyler-Justin
Anthony Sharpe was born the 26th of August, 2002, in the Queens area of New
York City to Jamaican immigrants. Sharpe was born in Queens' Springfield
Gardens, after which he moved to Cedarhurst on Long Island. Sharpe had always
wanted to make it into the NBA in his youth but at the age of 12 Sharpe made
the decision to pursue a profession in music. Sharpe graduated from Lawrence
High School. Tecca aged nine at the time, was rapping with his peers with his
Xbox to record. They would make diss tracks directed at one another and one was
uploaded to SoundCloud many years ago. However, it has since been taken down. At
beginning, he didn't have intentions to start a musical career and instead had
dreams of being an NBA superstar. However, in his middle school years, he
resigned himself to basketball and began to consider taking the music
seriously. His first single to become well-known, "Tectri", was
composed in collaboration with Lil Gummybear and released in early 2017. Other
preliminary tracks of his include "Callin". A year later the career
of Tecca began to take off with his breakout hit single "Ransom",
which was released on Cole Bennett's Lyrical Lemonade YouTube channel on May
22nd, 2019. It peaked at number 4 in the Billboard Hot 100 charts and has been
played over 900,000,000 times on Spotify and more than 300 million times on
YouTube.
